University of Texas at Dallas
Welcome to the Zeta Upsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Texas at Dallas! My name is Emily Riddell and I am the Chief Executive Officer of the Zeta Upsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Texas at Dallas. I am truly excited to lead the Zeta Upsilon chapter in 2018, and know that our members will continue to achieve excellence in every area of life. We all have different talents, passions, and backgrounds, but what brings us together are Theta values: scholarship, leadership, commitment to service, and personal excellence. Our excellence in scholarship has been evident by our high academic scores. Zeta Upsilon has earned the highest GPA in the Panhellenic Council at UT Dallas 19 out of 23 semesters, and achieved the highest GPA in all Greek Life at UT Dallas 6 of those 19. Roughly ten percent of our members earn a 4.0 GPA each semester. Zeta Upsilon’s intellectual curiosity is made evident by the diversity of majors our members are studying; mathematics, biochemical engineering, criminology, healthcare management, and accounting are just a few of the degrees our members are working towards. A number of our women are even balancing their rigorous course loads with jobs, internships, involvement in other organizations, and volunteer work. Our members are leaders both on campus and in the community. Many of our women serve as Orientation Leaders, Student Ambassadors, Student Government Members, and Peer Advisors on campus. We also have members involved in and leading service- and academic-oriented Greek organizations, such as the College Panhellenic Council and Order of Omega. The leadership of our members continues to create a positive presence at UT Dallas and throughout North Dallas.
Our chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta supports CASA of Collin County through different service, fundraising, and philanthropy events. CASA of Collin County serves over 500 children each year who are victims of domestic abuse and/or neglect by advocating in the best interests of these children in foster care. This year, we are excited to be hosting our first ever CASA Carnival at UT Dallas, where all proceeds will be given to CASA of Collin County and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. More information on CASA and our carnival can be found here. Beyond our involvement in academics, campus life, and service, Theta has become a home away from home for us all. I have 85 sisters who support me, challenge me, and inspire me. It’s out of their constant love and encouragement that I drew confidence and became a leader. The women of Zeta Upsilon have truly defined my experience at UT Dallas. I didn’t know that when I went through recruitment two and a half years ago, I would be meeting lifelong friends and making some of the best memories of my life. Please take some time to browse our website to see what this remarkable sisterhood is all about. I am so humbled and honored to be a member of this sisterhood and serve as the current President of the Zeta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta.
Theta Love and Loyalty,
Zeta Upsilon | Chief Executive Officer
